Rebranding Lay Family Yarn was an absolutely lovely project. Kelly, Nick and Megan Lay dye their own knitting yarn and also produce the cutest sock blanks. (I had to ask my knitting friend what those were! They’re knitted pieces that are painted and then you re-knit them into socks).
Lay Family Yarn are part of the Flower Power Fund project where Kelly had seen my work and she got in touch to ask for some help. They are stepping into a new phase of the business this spring and wanted a bit of a refresh.
We started with a Pinterest board where Kelly pinned things in here favourite shades and colours, plants and prints that make her happy. I then put together a colour palette and some logo ideas for them to choose from.
They went with a logo featuring illustration of an amnesia rose and a fern, which work really well with their nature-inspired, pastel coloured yarns.
I turned the drawings a wreath for the main logo, and the drawings pop up in their sub-brand logos, yarn bands and Instagram frames.
The team were all equipped with lots of new goodies ready for their relaunch in a branding pack. It’s such a pleasure to watch them blossom 🙂 They now have their own shop space too!
As they have moved to their shop, they also wanted an extra logo inspired by the local Iron Bridge to use for a new collection of yarn and their retreats:
