A couple of new knitting-based projects

Design work is a funny business – sometimes there’s a really tight deadline and turn around; sometimes things are in the pipe line for ages before they come out into the light of day.  Through a combination of both of those, I’ve got a couple of new pieces of work to share with you!

I was so excited to see Cartref Yarn appear on my Instagram feed today.  I designed their logo last year and have been dying to talk about it. Jennie and Zoe knew that they wanted something based around a Welsh map.  Below is a page from their branding pack (everyone I work with gets a shiny pack with tips on how to use their new goodies in).

You can follow their journey on Instagram here (it’s already looking really good):

Hutch of Dye Candy reached out at the end of last year with a more general idea for us to collaborate on something.  We’ve got lots more to share with you soon, but we kicked off with a drawing of Hutch inspired by Tank Girl!  I’m going to be doing a few of these drawings with different poses, backgrounds and text on to share on her social media feeds.

Although both in the yarn world, these projects are so different, and I just love how the diverse members of the community bring their own personality into their brands.

Both projects also gave me a nice push to try something new – I’d never drawn a map before, and animals and plants are definitely my comfort zone over drawing people.  I never really know how a project is going to turn out when I begin it, but I’m so pleased with how these worked out.

You can see more of the projects I’ve been working on here 🙂
